The Ghost Of Silver Snow

The Blizzard

The snow blew into town
It piled up high and it buried me under the ground
While fires were raging and swelling across the city
Candles in windows and heads all aglow
I couldn’t breathe out
So I laid there
With a chest full of air
And I inhaled still
The sea breathed in with me
The moon went down and circled around
My hands were numb but I heard a sound
With one small push
My lungs breathed out
Fire from my mouth
My watery prison
Spilled out on the ground
By night the flames had reached me and ravaged me slow
In smoke I left looking for somewhere to go
Somewhere less harsh
Somewhere less cold

Aggelein Eyes

I had a rug made from a polar bear
His name was silver snow
He had eyes of aggelein
I sure did hate to see him go
Every time I lay my face across his silvery skin
Oh I cry like a baby once again
I had a friend named filip Kyoto
He melted in the sun
His eyes were always aggelein
Until his heart was done
On snowy nights I listen for his heartbeat at the door
But when I look outside it’s just the winters mighty roar

Aggelein eyes always staring up from underneath
Aggelein eyes I will meet you when I finally get to sleep

I met a woman selling icicles
Out in the western heat
Her eyes would shine like aggelein
And fester with deceit
She’d cut you for a nickel
And she’d leave you there to bleed
Her heart was cold so when she cried her tears would start to freeze
I knew a man who ran from New Orleans
To texas just to teach
A group of teenage lunatics to draw stuff how they see
His eyes were leaking aggelein
Just like his blood soaked sleeves
He grew tired of the torture and ran back to New Orleans

Aggelein eyes always staring up from underneath
Aggelein eyes I will meet you when I finally get to sleep
Aggelein eyes never looked so pure
Aggelein eyes you’ll be back to see me soon I’m sure

Lighthouse

I live inside of myself
And I’m lonesome I swear
I can’t breathe when I’m here
There’s a memory here and its presence is tearing away
I shine a light from my skin
it’s painful and bright
It shouts to the waves all around me and says
If you’re out there please come on home

I’ve set you a place at the table
The water is black in the storm
I made up your bed in the lighthouse
Because the sun never comes up anymore

When all of the stars are chewed up
And the planets are piles of spiraling rocks
I’ll climb up the stairs and I’ll follow the fate of my son
My son
My son
I’ll follow the fate of my son

Blue star cadet
You're now floating
In the Polar Deep

1000 Meters

3000 Meters

5000 Meters
Approaching the Hadal zone

6500 Meters
I see snow

8000 Meters
There's nothing down here

9500 Meters
There's a small crack in the port-side window

10,000 Meters
It really is beautiful down here

11,000 Meters
There's water spilling in everywhere
I'm not gonna make it back up
Goodnight

Golden Womb

You like to drive fast
And you like to be cold
You like to hold on to the things you were told
You spent all your years and your time growing old
On draining your skin and puncturing holes
You often feel empty and you often feel rolled
up in people who said you were colder than cold
You wrap up your scars on your arms with your poems
In paper so golden it’s golder than gold
With shimmering arms and shimmering eyes
You sped down the highway in utero disguise
You found yourself stuck
Beneath a gas truck
The baby is dead now your insides feel heavy
You’ve bled through your poems and your heart is already gone
The baby is dead and his blood flows golden
The baby is dead but your womb’s still golden

Here Lies Cedar Waxwing

Pines stand tall and cold Underneath the hill
Sitting oh so calm
On top of the windmill
shouting laughing
About the joy I’ve found
Such a lucky sight
For me I’m only human

Split the world in two
Find me chrysanthemum
Here lies cedar waxwing
Such a pretty color bird

Theres an empty naked branch on the skyline
You’re a black dot in the mighty hazel cloud
I know the way the old life haunts the new
Just as well as I know how cedar waxwing flew

Winter, 1904

The air was cold and Smokey
You were beautiful in black and white
You put on your plastic smile
To pretend like you enjoyed the night
But you never lost the plot so away you run

Through the kitchen
With a knife and a mission
And it’s cold to remember
All those warm and lonesome winters
You were younger when it happened
But you grew old inside your heart
It’s a shame to hear your story
As it’s a story you can not restart

You stood outside the mansion
A silhouette in the snow
The frozen streams can’t flow
Until you crumble

And away you blow
Through the winter
Ride the rails until December
You’ll die on the back of a train
They’ll burn your body with the coal and they’ll give you a name of winter

River Was Blue

Well down by the river where the waters loud
And the wind calls out like an old grey owl
Where My heart beats slow and my face sits still as stone
With Her hair spread out on the cold dead grass
I could tell she was thinking about the past
I said look up at the trees and you’ll be fine

Well the waters turned grey and so have you
The sun ain’t shine today and the sky’s not blue
I long to see the River sing to me
Realize that you’re trapped and you’ll be free

On that gentle morning when the highway noise rang out of tune
You sprawled out on the bed and screamed I wanna be someone new
The skin around our hands grew loose and my sunken eyes called out for you
Gone are the days when you’d sing and the river was Blue
