At Moonrise

At moonrise
I saw my death and birth
At moonrise
My small heart inside the earth’s
horselike chest
At moonrise
I bathed an evil body
At moonrise
I danced with everybody
In the world
At moonrise
I lay atop migration
At moonrise
I’m carried from the north
To my southern death
At moonrise
I curl to white hot vents
At moonrise
a sun made for my chest
At moonrise
This dying star is mine
At moonrise
I find it hard to find
Hearts intact

We waited for witches to come flying cross the red sky
We hid our faces, for sparks fell with the water on this cruel night
We lit our lanterns and ran in terror to the forest at the first sight
Of the lights

The clouds were full of flashes and distant sounds of stolen voice
The dark stretched out around us as our flames asphyxiated on this cruel night
We waded through the lightless with a hope for rise of sun or glimpse of moonlight

Oh it’s bright
there upon a clearing a fire flickered brightly in the center
“Come and feel…” it seemed to whisper “my heat and keep your body from the winter”
I saw eight elusive creatures dancing round it and they turned liked planets
Orbit light
